SOLE ASSESSOR POSITION
The Town of Skaneateles is seeking a full-time Assessor. The Assessor is a professional management-level position appointed by the Skaneateles Town Board.
The Town of Skaneateles is located about 20 miles southwest of the City of Syracuse and serves as the eastern gateway to the Finger Lakes region. Skaneateles Lake is the major natural feature of the area. The Town contains approximately 4,300 parcels comprised of commercial, residential, and agricultural properties.
Applicants must have one of the following: a high school diploma and two years’ experience involving the valuation of real property, an associate’s degree and one year experience involving the valuation of real property or a bachelor’s degree and six months experience involving the valuation of real property.
Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal skills and be proficient in Microsoft products and the ability to learn proprietary systems. Applicants should also be certified by NYSORPTS and have a comprehensive knowledge of the RPSV4 system. Applicants must have the ability to work effectively with the public. Town residency is not a requirement.
All candidates are subject to a pre-employment background check. Salary is commensurate with experience. Appointment will be on or before October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2031.
